welcome

This is the official web site of the Northeastern Maryland Kennel (NEMKC). We are excited to have you visit and learn more about our club and its members. The NEMKC was established in 1985 as an all-breed kennel club centered in the town of Bel Air, Maryland. Today we are proud to be a non-profit member of the American Kennel Club.

The primary role of our Club has always been to protect and advance the interests of all breeds of purebred dogs and to encourage sportsmanlike competition at dog shows and obedience trials. However, today we have broadened our perspective to include anyone who loves dogs and wants to be involved with a dynamic and congenial group of members that enjoys competing in various AKC title events, as well as giving back to the our community. Just like the AKC, we welcome non-purebred AKC Canine Partners. Every dog can compete in companion events and our club members are excited to include this group in NEMKC membership. Our members are proud of our club and the many accomplishments we have made by working together.

Throughout the year we hold meetings that offer educational programs, host AKC events including all breed dog shows, matches, show n go’s, obedience, rally, responsible dog ownership days and a variety of social events. We continually explore events that offer our members a fun and interesting opportunity with their dog(s).

We are also excited about our commitment to our communities. NEMKC is proud to have a presence at local festivals and expos and we like to take advantage of any opportunity where we can share our dogs and what we do as a club with the public. NEMKC is a two time winner of the AKC's prestigious Community Achievement Award for our Responsible Dog Ownership Days. We also worked together to help provide the first two AKC Reunite Pet Disaster Relief Trailers in the State of Maryland to Cecil and Harford Counties. These trailers are a lifesaving sheltering resource for individuals with animals in the event of an emergency situation or natural disaster.

If you are looking for an opportunity to enjoy time with your dog(s), club members and also give back to your community, we welcome you.
